Ingredients

For the Chewy M&M Blondie Bars
  • 1 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup M&M's plus extra for topping
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts optional

Equipment

  • 9×13 inch baking pan
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Whisk
  • Spatula

Method

  1. Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Mix until smooth.
  3. Step 3: Add in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Step 4: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Step 5: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Step 6: Fold in the M&M's and chopped nuts (if using) until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  7. Step 7: Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly. Sprinkle additional M&M's on top for decoration.
  8. Step 8: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Step 9: Allow the blondies to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Step 10: Once cooled, cut into squares and enjoy your chewy M&M blondie bars!
