Ingredients

For the Chocolate Cobbler
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder this is the star of the show, bringing that rich chocolate flavor!
  • 1 cup milk for a moist and tender texture.
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil adds richness without the heaviness.
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract because every dessert deserves a hint of vanilla.
  • 1 cup brown sugar for that deep, caramel-like sweetness.
  • 1 3/4 cups hot water this creates the self-saucing magic!
  • Optional ice cream or whipped cream for serving I highly recommend adding a scoop for that extra indulgence!

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • 9x13-inch Baking Dish
  • Oven

Method

  1. Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Step 2: In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and cocoa powder. Stir until well combined.
  3. Step 3: Add the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until smooth and well combined.
  4. Step 4: Pour the batter into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  5. Step 5: In a separate bowl, mix the brown sugar and hot water until the sugar dissolves.
  6. Step 6: Carefully pour the brown sugar mixture over the batter in the baking dish. Do not stir - this is where the magic happens!
  7. Step 7: Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is set and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Step 8: Allow to cool slightly before serving. Serve warm, optionally topped with ice cream or whipped cream for the ultimate treat.

Notes

If by some miracle you have leftovers, you can store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. To reheat, simply pop it in the microwave for a few seconds until warm. Enjoy it with a little extra ice cream on top for a quick dessert fix!
