Method
- Step 1: Preheat your oven according to the cake mix package instructions. Grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking dish to ensure your cake comes out perfectly.
- Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, eggs, water, and vegetable oil. Mix until everything is well combined and the batter is smooth.
- Step 3: Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake according to package instructions, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool for about 10 minutes.
- Step 4: Using the handle of a wooden spoon, poke holes evenly across the top of the cake. This is where all that delicious caramel goodness will seep in!
- Step 5: In a separate bowl, mix together the caramel sauce and sweetened condensed milk. Pour this delightful mixture over the warm cake, making sure it seeps into all the holes.
- Step 6: Allow the cake to cool completely, then spread the whipped topping over the top.
- Step 7: Sprinkle the chopped pecans over the whipped topping and drizzle with additional caramel sauce for that extra flair.
- Step 8: Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving to let all the flavors meld together. Enjoy!
Notes
Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. The cake might even taste better the next day as the flavors continue to develop!
