  • 4 slices thick bread Texas toast or challah work well
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk any type of milk you prefer
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar for topping
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter for frying
Optional toppings
  • whipped cream
  • chocolate sauce
  • maple syrup

Equipment

  • Large Skillet
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Small Bowl

Method

  1. Step 1: In a small bowl, mix together the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Set this sweet mixture aside for later.
  2. Step 2: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  3. Step 3: Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and add the butter to melt. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are well coated.
  4. Step 4: Once the butter is melted and bubbling, place the coated bread slices onto the skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
  5. Step 5: Once cooked, remove the French toast from the skillet and immediately sprinkle both sides with the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  6. Step 6: Serve warm with your choice of toppings, like whipped cream, chocolate sauce, or maple syrup.
