Method
- Step 1: In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- Step 2: Add the melted butter, eggs, and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix well.
- Step 3: Gradually add the flour, one cup at a time, until the dough comes together.
- Step 4: Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Step 5: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Step 6: In a bowl, mix the softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon until well combined.
- Step 7: Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
- Step 8: Spread the cinnamon filling evenly over the dough.
- Step 9: Sprinkle with nuts and raisins if desired. Starting from one long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Pinch the edges to seal.
- Step 10: Slice the log into 12 equal pieces and place them in a greased baking dish.
- Step 11: Cover the rolls with a cloth and let them rise for another 30 minutes until puffy.
- Step 12: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Step 13: In a bowl, beat together the cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla. Add milk as needed to achieve a smooth consistency.
- Step 14: Once the rolls are out of the oven, let them cool for a few minutes before spreading the frosting on top. Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
Make sure your milk is warm, not hot, to avoid killing the yeast. Don't rush the rising process; it’s essential for fluffy rolls. If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container to keep them fresh.
