Method
- Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan to prevent sticking.
- Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Mix until you have a smooth batter—don’t worry if there are a few lumps!
- Step 3: In another bowl, mix together the creamy peanut butter and powdered sugar until well combined. This should be thick and delicious!
- Step 4: Pour half of the chocolate cake batter into the prepared baking pan. Drop spoonfuls of the peanut butter mixture over the batter, then sprinkle the chopped Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and chocolate chips on top. Pour the remaining chocolate cake batter over the peanut butter layer, spreading it evenly.
- Step 5: Pop the cake in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Step 6: While the cake is baking, whip together the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and creamy peanut butter until the mixture is light and fluffy.
- Step 7: Once the cake is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes. Spread the peanut butter topping over the warm cake.
- Step 8: Allow the cake to cool completely before slicing. Serve it up and enjoy every rich, gooey bite!
Notes
For the best flavor and texture, store your cake in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days. If you want to keep it longer, refrigerate it, and it should last up to a week.
