Method
- Step 1: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat and transfer the beef to a plate.
- Step 2: In the same skillet, add the sliced onions. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they become soft and caramelized.
- Step 3: Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
- Step 4: Return the cooked ground beef to the skillet. Add the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, dried thyme, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine.
- Step 5: Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together. Stir occasionally.
- Step 6: While the beef mixture is simmering, toast the hamburger buns if desired.
- Step 7: Spoon the beef mixture onto the bottom half of each toasted bun. Top generously with shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Step 8: Place the assembled sandwiches under a broiler for 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Step 9: Remove from the broiler, garnish with chopped parsley, and serve immediately with the top half of the bun.
Notes
Leftovers? No problem! You can store the beef mixture in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Just reheat it on the stove or in the microwave when you're ready to enjoy it again. I recommend toasting fresh buns for the best experience the second time around!
