Method
- Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Step 2: In a 9-inch round cake pan, melt the butter in the oven. Once melted, sprinkle the brown sugar evenly over the butter, and then arrange the peach slices on top in a decorative pattern.
- Step 3: In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon (if using). Set aside.
- Step 4: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Step 5: Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, and then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Step 6: Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk. Start and finish with the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Step 7: Carefully pour the batter over the arranged peaches in the cake pan, spreading it evenly.
- Step 8: Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Step 9: Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, carefully invert the cake onto a serving plate. Serve it warm or at room temperature.
