  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract the secret ingredient for warmth
  • 1 cup boiling water creates the self-saucing magic
  • 1/2 cup butterscotch sauce for serving, drizzle on top for extra indulgence

Method
 

  1. Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Step 2: In a mixing bowl, combine the brown sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir until well blended.
  3. Step 3: Add the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract to the dry mixture. Mix it all together until you have a smooth batter.
  4. Step 4: Pour the batter into a greased baking dish, making sure to spread it evenly.
  5. Step 5: Carefully pour the boiling water over the batter; do not stir!
  6. Step 6: Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is set and golden brown.
