Method
- Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8x8-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
- Step 2: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
- Step 3: In another bowl, combine the melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract. Mix well until smooth.
- Step 4: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the bars tough!
- Step 5: Gently fold in the chopped strawberries, ensuring they're evenly distributed throughout the batter.
- Step 6: Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish.
- Step 7: Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Step 8: Allow the bars to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Step 9: Once cooled, cut into squares and serve with a generous dollop of whipped cream on top.
Notes
These bars can be stored at room temperature for a day or two, but if you want to keep them longer, pop them in the fridge. They will last about a week in an airtight container. Just remember, they are best enjoyed fresh!
