Prep Time 15 minutes
Total Time 2 hours
Course: Skincare

Ingredients

For the Lotion Bars
  • 1 cup beeswax pellets provides firmness and structure
  • 1/2 cup shea butter creates a creamy texture
  • 1/2 cup coconut oil nourishes the skin and adds scent
  • 1 tbsp sweet orange essential oil brings a refreshing citrus aroma
  • 1 tsp vanilla essential oil adds a warm, comforting scent

Equipment

  • Double Boiler
  • Silicone molds or loaf pan

Method

  1. Step 1: In a double boiler, combine the beeswax, shea butter, and coconut oil. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally until everything is completely melted and well combined.
  2. Step 2: Once melted, remove the mixture from heat. Allow it to cool slightly before adding the sweet orange and vanilla essential oils. Stir well to incorporate the oils evenly.
  3. Step 3: Carefully pour the melted mixture into silicone molds or a loaf pan. If using a loaf pan, you can cut the bars into desired sizes once they have set.
  4. Step 4: Allow the lotion bars to cool at room temperature until they are completely hardened. This may take a few hours. You can also place them in the refrigerator to speed up the process.
  5. Step 5: Once set, gently pop the lotion bars out of the molds. If you used a loaf pan, cut the solidified mixture into bars.
  6. Step 6: Store the lotion bars in a cool, dry place. They can be kept in an airtight container or wrapped in parchment paper.

Notes

Store in an airtight container or wrapped in parchment paper to maintain freshness. They can last for several months!
