Ingredients

For the Chicken Marinade
  • 4 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts the star of the show, tender and juicy
  • 1 cup Cherry Dr. Pepper adds a sweet and tangy flavor
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce adds a kick of smokiness
  • 1 tbsp olive oil helps to keep the chicken moist
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp onion powder adds depth to the marinade
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika provides a lovely smoky flavor
  • 1/2 tsp salt essential for enhancing flavors
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper a bit of spice
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish) a pop of color and freshness

Equipment

  • Large Bowl
  • Grill
  • Meat Thermometer

Method

  1. Step 1: In a large bowl, combine the Cherry Dr. Pepper, barbecue sauce, olive oil, minced garlic, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Whisk until well blended. Add the chicken breasts to the marinade, ensuring they are fully coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best flavor.
  2. Step 2: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (about 375°F to 400°F).
  3. Step 3: Remove the chicken from the marinade, letting any excess liquid drip off. Place the chicken on the grill. Cook for about 6-7 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for another 6-7 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
  4. Step 4: If desired, brush the chicken with additional barbecue sauce during the last few minutes of grilling for extra flavor.
  5. Step 5: Once cooked, remove the chicken from the grill and let it rest for 5 minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

Don't rush the marinating process; the longer it sits, the more flavorful it becomes. Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
